When I was five, I had my first ballet lesson. My teacher snapped at me to stand up straight and that was the most heart breaking feeling I had ever experienced at this point in my life. Safety or not I think a lot of teachers don't realize how fragile a kid can be when criticized. I feel really proud of the six year old you for going back!

It's a shame your teacher couldn't figure out the difference between lovingly telling you to stand up straight and tearing down your spirit. but kudos to you for going back!

I never got to do ballet. I always wanted to, though. At least when I got older and realized that's what all the American kids did!
