Black smoke.. intense heat. Choking, unable to breath, desperation all around and then... nothing. Nothing but the still air that fell with the unconscious mind. And there he lay in the deep, dark depths of his mind. Swirling, dulled colours raced past his senses and spun his head, forcing it to throb a little. Things that haunted him, things that had come to pass... all drifting by in a tremendous wave of moving images and sound. And then... thump thump thump thump... thump thump thump thump...His eyes shot open and the real world slowly came into focus, getting sharper and sharper. The intense light made it harder and harder so he squinted and widened his eyes, once, twice and then one more time for good measure. Yes... the world was in focus now. A white room. He turned his head to see that he wasn't alone. He could hear movement and groaning, panic setting in the air as each person woke to their realization and horror ( ... )

Harry coughed and then realised he wasn't breathing in smoke any more. If it meant everyone was safe he was glad about that, but it was still very disorientating to be in one place one minute and wake up in another ( ... )

The Doctor stopped to raise an eyebrow. That voice! He knew that voice! He turned his head in the wrong direction first, looking left, and then looked right to see Harry. "Oh Hello!" he said brightly, his smile lighting up as brightly as the room. "Harry!" he exclaimed, realizing who it was. "Harry Sullivan! How the hell did you get here? Well, we know that... well sort of... well not really..." he paused and pulled a thoughtful face, took a quick breath and smiled brightly again. "Fancy meeting you here, eh?" he added, glancing up at the ceiling, blowing a tuft of hair upwards again ( ... )

"Er," was Harry's main contribution to the discussion, as he tried to work out who this man was and how he knew his name. Harry was fairly certain he'd have remembered him, if they'd met before. And he hadn't seen him in the prison before.

He frowned when the Doctor revealed who he was. He certainly could be the Doctor. In fact he was rather a lot like the Doctor, which made Harry inclined to believe he was. So he smiled at him, and then blinked as the Doctor got an arm free.

"How did you do that?" Harry pulled at his restraints again experimentally, but they definitely weren't going to give and there wasn't enough space to pull his hands free.

The Doctor swung his legs over the side of the gurney and paused to think about the question, glancing up and off to the side thoughtfully. "How did I do what?" he asked. His eyes widened and he turned to look at Harry. "Oh that!" he added, waving one of his hands. "Didn't I tell you? I'm brilliant!" he grinned. A clap of his hands and he hopped of the side of the gurney.

"So!" he said, getting to work on the straps holding down his old friend. "What have you been up to? It's been a long time, hasn't it? And you've aged a bit" he smirked, teasingly. "Last time I saw you was... er" he paused and looked up. "Kraal? Those androids... It must have been then.." By this point, The Doctor sounded more like he was talking to himself, as he worked on undoing the restraints. "A lot's happened, a lot of years have passed since our time" he said, smiling warmly at his old companion and friend.

"It has been a while." He hadn't expected to see the Doctor again, but then he did have a habit of popping up just when you didn't expect him.

Harry watched the Doctor undo his restraints and decided not to agree with the Doctor's assessment of his brilliance because it would only encourage him. "You've regenerated," he pointed out, as if it wasn't obvious.

"Ah yes" he said. "The new face. Throws people off at first but then you can't really mistake the winning personality, can you?" he said flashing that grin again. A moment of awkward silence and his grin snapped off, hands finishing their work at undoing the straps binding Harry's wrist. "Well... I've been through a few regenerations now. Had a few faces. I quite like this one so far. The hair's not ginger but at this rate that's never going to happen"

He finished with the straps at his wrists and moved to help with the ones at his legs. "So which part of time and space did they snatch you from? And how long have you been stuck here?" he asked curiously.

Harry smiled and shook his head. The Doctor hadn't changed a bit. Apart from the new face. And at least he was doing something helpful.

Once the Doctor had Harry's hands free he sat up and started on the restraints on his other leg. "I was at home. On Earth," he added. "I've been here two days without a trial. If I have violated the Official Secrets Act I'd at least like to know what it was I did." Harry did sound a bit huffy about it.

"Well..." he said, pulling the leg restraint free. "It seems you're not the only one who doesn't know what they've done to wind up in here... And I haven't heard anything about a trial. Mind you, I've been here less time than you" he paused. "But something gives me the feeling there's not going to be a trial for any of us" he added grimly.

The Doctor smoothly swept back and put both hands on his pockets, leaning against the edge of the gurney. "If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about the official secrets act. That's probably the least of your concerns" he said, looking around himself at all the different types of people lying on the gurneys. Such a strange and mismatched group of people...

The Doctor snapped out of his thoughts and turned to look at Harry again. "We're in a prison therefor you'd think we were brought in for criminal acts but what if we weren't? What if we were picked by some other means?" he asked. "And even if it was because of things we had done... what did they put you away for? Or me? Really..."

Harry sat up and stretched his newly freed arms and legs out. "The Warden isn't inclined to answer questions. He much prefers putting us in dangerous situations where we might be killed." Which the Doctor would have seen, if he'd been here during the fire and the bear attacks.

"According to the computers in our cells I'm here because I violated the Official Secrets Act. So I think I ought to be concerned about it." Harry generally was, even if the Doctor never seemed to care. "There's nothing else I could be in here for. I'm no one special."

"Cells, eh?" he said with a nod of his head. The eyebrows raised and the head tilted back a touch while thoughts ran through his head. "I haven't seen the cells yet. Wonder what mine says?" he added thoughtfully. "It could say all sorts of things, really couldn't it? I suppose it would depend how their scale works... I could be in for anything really"

He paused to think about it, scratching the back of his neck. Forgery, aiding a criminal, identity theft, kidnapping, hijacking various vehicles and of course there was the more serious stuff and there were different laws on different worlds too... So when he said it could be anything, he really meant anything.

"So have you spoken to the Warden?" he asked. "Has anyone here spoken to him?" he added. He wanted to try and speak to the Warden and if the others had a chance, then he might. And even if no one had spoken to him, it wouldn't stop The Doctor from trying. Damn his ego...

Harry could just imagine what crimes the Doctor had committed. He was sure they'd be petty crimes, though, unless petty people were holding grudges against him. But then he didn't know where the list of crimes had come from. "You'll find out when we get back to the prison. We're bound to at some point." When was another question, but it was sure to happen sooner or later.

"I spoke to him yesterday. He met with a few people. I'm not sure what he told the others, but he wouldn't answer any of my questions properly. He was just vague and said I wouldn't understand." He frowned. The Doctor had more knowledge than he did. Maybe Harry wouldn't understand, but the Doctor would. "You could try requesting a meeting when we get back," he suggested.

"You spoke with him?" The Doctor asked, his voice taken over with astonishment. "Did you see what he looked like? What did he sound like?" he asked frantically.

This would help him understand his captor more... If he could just talk with this Warden who was keeping them locked up, ask a few questions. Even an evaded answer spoke volumes, especially to a seasoned Time Lord like himself.

"I suppose I could ask for a meeting when I ask for my clothing back" he said, tugging at the horrible dirty clothing he had been given upon his arrival at the camp site.

"I didn't see him and he sounded the same as when he makes announcements. It's not very helpful," he admitted, "but I just don't know much."

"I asked for some proper clothes the first night I was here and the next day there were these." It did look odd to see the Doctor in something so simple, but Harry had got used to seeing various people wearing them.

"So how exactly did you get to speak to him? Where were you when you spoke with him?" The Doctor asked, hopping up to sit on the gurney. He had so many questions burning in his mind.

"And how did you get to ask for your clothing back? Did you just shout it out? Ask for a post it note? Send a miracle e mail? Have you actually heard of e mail? Hmm never mind...." he paused. "There has to be more to this place... how did they even get us in this room? How do they move us around?" he asked, looking up at the ceiling. He glanced around at the walls, trying to find any signs of a transporter, a door... anything.

"He asked if anyone wanted to speak to him. So he must have some idea of how we feel." Harry wasn't sure how to answer all of the Doctor's questions when he couldn't get a word in edgeways. Which was typical of him, it had just been a while since Harry had needed to try.

"I asked about my clothes on the computer. And I do know about email. I'm not completely computer illiterate." Although Harry didn't mention just how little he could use a computer...
