Hello! I'm planning on going to STLPride this year and hopefully taking a few friends along. Thing is, I've never been to this before and my friends are straight and a bit wary about going. Any info you could give me on Pride would be fantastic!

If I had to liken it to something... If you've ever been to a Renaissance Faire, it's like that, but instead of foux middle ages, it has gay. :P

Seriously, though, it's not too bad. I've not been the last two years (too damn hot), but a lot of people bring their families so it's not off the wall crazy. (Though I can't speak for the parades as I've never gotten up in time for those.) Every year I went they basically had a lot of vendors and local organizations with booths selling pride merchandise and handing out informational pamphlets while they have various entertainments (bands, drag performers, etc.) on the large center stage around which most folks hang out.

The trees provide a fair bit of shade, but if you're planning on going wear sunscreen and bring water.

Hit it right on the head, Greypaw. It's a pretty easy going festival. I'm usually out of town when it's going on but the times I've been have been good, but hot!

Yeah I was definitely worried about the heat! Thankfully one of my straight friends really wants to go, so hopefully it will be fun :] Thanks for your advice!
