Dave avenges a crime that affects Kurt...

A major, nasty crime of the filler's choice is committed, and Kurt is a victim (or better, someone very close to him is). The culprit is caught, but is either acquitted at trial, or not tried at all due to lack of evidence.

A week and a half later, the culprit is found beaten to death in an alley. His killer is caught, and it's not Finn, Burt, or even Puck... It's David Karofsky. He refuses to explain his actions to anyone but Kurt, to whom he tells the truth: he did it because he knew about the tension rising amongst Kurt's friends and family after the acquittal/decision not to go to trial, and did it so that no one Kurt "actually cared about" would have to get their hands dirty. (If the crime victim was one of Kurt's family/friends, this list includes Kurt himself!)
