I'd love to see an AU where Mr. Schue never took over the glee club from Mr. Ryerson for whatever reason. Where are the original members now? How did things change/stay the same? Anon can take it in whatever direction they'd like.

A/N: This idea has been kicking around in my head for ages, so I thought I'd finally start writing it up. Will focus on the original six glee members, though most of the others will make appearances. Set in junior year (for this story's purposes they're all the same age) Any constructive criticism would be most welcome :)

Rachel Berry’s beaming face leers down at him from every corner of the hallway. Judging by the gold stars adorning the posters she must have made them herself, advertising her ‘stunning debut’ on the McKinley High stage that weekend.

Kurt suppresses a snort as he scans the posters derisively; Cabaret as a one-woman show may be an intriguing experiment, but he’d heard from the band that everyone else had quit after the third practice that stretched into the dawn hours. Rachel was the only person in this cow-town who matched Sue Sylvester’s animalistic drive for success. He might’ve fit that bill once, but he hasn’t been able to bring himself to sing in months.

Ooh, this is great so far. Interesting that Rachel ended up doing Cabaret... though I guess Mr. Ryerson would be in it too? (I don't really remember everything that happened in S1... but it was something like that :P)
I wonder what friendships will remain intact or not. It'd be cool to see Finn and Kurt become semi-friends in their own way like this. I really like the rationale from Kurt about the crush/Finn's "kindness" and the money issue. I just realized that Puck and Finn aren't actually too different in the being able to provide for the baby way... so maybe that's why Quinn and Puck are cheating more than once here. or something. hrmmm.
Anyway, can't wait for more!!

Wow, thank you so much for the in-depth comment! I don't want to give away too much, but I should clear up that Quinn did not have her baby in this AU. What happened between her and Puck will be revealed a bit down the line.

Much to his surprise, Finn keeps his word and Kurt makes it past the parking lot and through the double doors without any incident. Sitting behind Jacob in second period he detects the familiar whiff of rotten Kraft cheese and can't help but suppress a smile

It’s a combination of sheer boredom and morbid curiosity that finds him back in the parking lot that evening, steeling himself for three hours (plus intermission entertainment) of the most obnoxious girl in school

Finn, who has somehow managed to remain rapt with attention and questions through the entire four hour production, claps vigorously as Rachel comes out for the curtain call, wearing a huge smile that even from the sixth-to-back row Kurt can tell is strained

Ooh, this is still so appropriately bitter and almost awkward to read, but I mean that in the best way possible - it reads like Kurt's POV would in this situation, you know? And I still love the slow reveal of backstory and the subtle show of how all the relationships have changed without glee club happening. Rachel and Kurt's borderline-tolerance/frenemy relationship is especially perfect.

Thank you so much! I wanted it to be kind of brusque and uncomfortable, so I'm glad it worked for you :) And Rachel/Kurt as sort of friends sort of enemies is just so much fun to write.
