Finn is devastated when he realises that even though they've been a family for a while now, Kurt can't see himself surviving if his dad were to die.

I want to fill this, but I'm going to do two separate fics if that is okay, one is going to be a Burt has passed fic and one is going to be a Finn stumbles upon something that causes the realization fic. Unless OP has something against one of the two.

"You don't understand Finn, I just lost the only person I had for a long time, I don't want to live in a world without him." The air rushes out of Finn's lungs again, and his ears start to ring. Kurt, who has been his brother for seven years now, still can't imagine living in a world without Burt, even though they've been family for so long, even though he's had more than Burt for years

Thank you! I based the "If someone says they're sorry, hugs me, pats my back, or asks me if I need anything one more time I'm going to scream," part off of how I felt when my dad died and how there were so many people offering their condolences and I just didn't want them because I just wanted my dad back.

It's silly, the way Finn finds the notebook. He's rummaging through Kurts bedside table for condoms, because he had run out and didn't have the money to buy more. He finds the battered notebook before he finds the condoms, not that he had continued to look for them after he found the notebook. He doesn't know why the notebook drew him it, it was inconspicuous and looked a lot like Finn's old biology notebook.

He opens it up, and the first page is a drawing of a woman holding a camera, the caption underneath says, How I remember mom,and the date 3/10/11. The next page is song lyrics from a song Finn isn't familiar with. The pattern continues for a while until he reaches the middle, the headline is a simple bold, just in case. It's a list of medications that he can't pronounce or wrap his head around, a razor taped to the bottom corner, and when Finn flips the page over he's met with a pre-written note.
