Future fic, Regret, Possible: Homophobia, Transphobia, Biphobia

I want a fic where someone genuinely regrets their prejudice. Someone in high school said unfeeling/terrible things about transsexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals, or some other group. Now they're adults and they wince everytime they think about what they said. But there's nothing they can do about it.
Now, to be clear, I don't want them to BE gay, trans, or bi, or be related to someone who is. The regret comes from them growing up and rethinking their opinions, not from a physical member of that group.

When you say 'nothing they can do about it', do you mean the past? Because I have an idea for this, but it involves encountering the character in a position of trying to make amends/atone.
