Kurt - angst, self-esteem issues, career choices, 3x22 anonymous May 28 2012, 23:02:45 UTC
Kurt doesn't make it in Musical theater (doesn't make it into NYADA). Crushed that he's lost his dreams, Kurt decides that maybe he'll just go into fashion design because obviously he's too gay and/or not good enough for anything else. Fashion is the only pace where people would expect him to be flamboyant and swishy and is thus the only place where he might succeed.

No offense to people who write stories with Fashion designer!Kurt, I just want to see a twist on the trope.

If filler feels up to a longer post, I'd like to see Kurt figuring out what he REALLY wants to do (maybe even be a lawyer that focuses on gay rights or an actor or a writer or journalist or a doctor or anything). But even if filler gives short fill, I'd prefer a happy or hopeful ending.

Bonus supportive!helpful!Burt and Blaine

He approached it like a chore, got it done, and went home every night to collapse onto his couch and stare hard at the liquor cabinet he kept for appearances and surprise guests. Sometimes he wondered what it would be like to court alcoholism. Nothing was stopping him anymore, not since Blaine had finally left... All while telling him he'd changed, he wasn't the happy go lucky Kurt he used to know, he wasn't the sweet, genuine man he'd fallen in love with. He supposed he should have seen it coming. After all, when you hated your work and your work persona as much as Kurt did it was bound to bleed over into other aspects of your life ( ... )

You always deliver that punch to your stories that I want to ask for more, but at the same time, I don't because it feels like you've said all there is to say, with such succinct writing that nothing else is needed.

Otherwords, I love this & can easily see this happening. Nice job, bb!

ugh that was so sad, I cannot handle this.
The repetition of "you are shockingly gay" and those last two lines... ;_____;
It was brilliant and I loved it. Great job.

I loved this. And to be honest, my gut feeling is that Kurt's life might indeed turn out a bit like this, if he ends up stuck in fashion only. Being really good at something doesn't necessarily fills one's heart with the sense of accomplishment.

While I'd love to see Kurt find his way back to his actual dreams, the story is indeed more powerful with the ending you chose. Kudos.
