Puck, Finn, and Kurt (and one or two other Gleeks if you want to inclue them) are hit by a drunk driver. Kurt's uninjured but the other two are hurt(not critical but serious). With everyone's attention on the two injured boys, no one sees Kurt is slowly slipping away from them. He feels guilty for not being hurt, maybe he even traded seats with one of the other two before the crash. Up to anon if anyone(and who) finally notices how badly Kurt is dealing.

It all happened so fast. It was so cliché but it was true. He’d been sitting in the passenger’s seat of Carole’s car with Puck driving and Finn sleeping in the backseat. Puck wasn’t supposed to be driving but Kurt was too tired and Finn still hadn’t passed his driver’s test. They’d been hanging out with the rest of the kids in Glee at Rachel’s house and it wasn’t a long drive from her house to Kurt’s so when Puck offered to drive, Kurt had gratefully accepted. He knew Puck was actually a good driver so he didn’t see the harm in letting him drive home

Despite Kurt’s protests, the only way he was allowed to see Finn was if he made the small journey in a wheelchair. All his protesting seemed to be good for was amusing his father. They stopped outside the door to Finn’s room and Burt knocked on the open door

“Ready to get out of here Kiddo?” Burt asked the next morning as he saw Kurt sitting on the hospital bed, dressed in clothes he’d gotten for him last night.
