Puck goes on Birthright to Israel, and is in a coffee shop when it gets blown up. No one knows what happened to him. Rachel is freaking out, and everyone thinks its some kind of angst at the overall happening or solidarity thing, but it's because she loves him. Can be pre-established (secret) relationship if you want.

Bonus points for a Josh-on-the-West-Wing-when-Donna's-car-got-blown-up type outburst in the middle of glee...
