See, to the new friends (HI AGAIN!), at my school we are put in groups that have a big semester project. The theme is revolution, and through some randomness my group decided to do our project on weed. Pot. Marijuana. Yeah. Um, anyways, each group member works on a more specified aspect. I have music ( Read more... )

So, I have to find a way that weed revolutionized music, and research the steps leading up to that. So....yeah. Do you know if weed was a BIG part of Woodstock? Because that's what comes to mind first...

AAAH, THEN YOU'RE ONLY, WHAT, 3 YEARS OLDER THAN ME?

LOL OH. How Californian?

Let's see what I can think of here. Willie Nelson. Um, Bob Marley. Green Day's name and the song "green day." Snoop Dogg.

I think in general though, weed doesn't lend itself to creativity, more often laziness. LSD probably did more, at least in the 60s. Sgt Pepper's is my least favorite Beatles album, cause it doesn't make any sense, cause it was written on acid, but it's probably the most famous "drug-induced album"

Well, we're all Californian in my group, so yep, I guess so :p

Anyways, I feel totally lame, but I didn't even realize Green Day was referencing weed. But...I dunno, can you think of any way they were revolutionary? And to be honest, I think I'm going to try thinking of another thing to focus on, because music is hard :/ Economy, health/science, society, and, well, I forgot what the last guy had, but all those are taken.

I HATE SCHOOL AT THIS MOMENT. My brain doesn't want to work :/

I definitely would too. How bout agricultural? I have no idea about the history there but there might be something before it it was outlawed. The problem here is pot doesn't do anything. It causes stagnation not revolution.

Could you expand it to culture in general? That way you could include artists and movies.

*bangs head on wall*

We should have stuck with the printing press. The only way I can explain my state right now: frazzled.

I'm sure I'll eventually figure it out :/ I'm probably just being a procrastinator and trying to make excuses. I WILL GET THROUGH THIS, I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN!

If you want bands that have recently been tied to weed and affect the current generation go with 311, or even Fall Out Boy, to an extent. Their guitarist is a major pot head and doesn't hide it.

You can list it's health advantages, as in with cancer patients, and there are other health benefits besides that. If you want to take on that legalization would help the economy you might come off sounding like a tree hugging pot head, so you may lose validity in your argument. I would go with health benefits, myself.

Although, as an occasional pot smoker, I back that it causes less damage than alcohol socially. If you research alcohol related deaths/crimes/violence as opposed to marijuana related ones you might come up with a lot of interesting statistics.
