It’s their choice to live in what ever world they want, but I have to wonder do they know what they are ‘getting’ and what they are giving up? Who is to say what sort of life is better
That's easy! It is for them to decide for themselves. If they want to move to the cities that is their choice, it has its pluses and minuses, and the individuals and families have to weigh the choices and decide.
and does that question make sense or is it ‘cultural imperialism’?
Not in the slightest - living in the wild has its advantages (Freedom for one), but the hardships of day to day survival weigh heavy on the mind - especially when there is an alternative nearby.
As to what will happen - they will be changed, like the billions of other humans that have shifted to urban living over the centuries. Some will listen to the stories, other will dream of the past, freedom, law, poverty, slums, wealth and medicines will all happen and will all be discussed
