SPN 5.06

No blow-by-blow reactiony tonight, as I was far more concerned with mashing avocados while watching Show than tippity-tapping on my computer. But, I do have a few things to say...

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadow... )

I gotta say, bored as I already am with wacky!humor centered on Castiel, Misha sells it every time. I never ever thought a whoopee cushion could be FUNNY, and here I am giggling just thinking about it.

And I agree with you on the Antichrist, plus I like that the show took the time to say that Adam Jesse was NOT Lucifer's son, because that wouldn't have worked with what we've seen of Lucifer so far at all. Very smoothly handled.

Misha is ridiculously good at the deadpan humor required of him as Castiel.

Yes, this was one of those times where they got it right. I have to say, I really don't think Show is referencing Good Omens as much as everyone is always saying. I mean, they are both doing modern takes on Revelation, and the book ain't that long, you know? There are bound to be many similarities.

No, I agree. If you're doing a Bibical apocalypse story, there are certain things you have to hit on. I've just read the book so many times that it's entwined into my brain cells - I did actually call the kid Adam in my head several times while watching the ep, entirely by accident.

Also, I've read a lot of reaction posts all season about how Castiel should own up to letting Sam out of the panic room and keeping Dean in the green room for as long as he did, and I really disagree that Cas has anything to apologize for. The primary trait of angels is that they follow orders--except when they don't, and therein lies all the trouble. Cas was following Zachariah's orders (and, remember, he'd been newly--and seemingly pretty brutally--re-indoctrinated right before then), and, at that point, he didn't realize that Zach wasn't acting on God's orders. Cas had not yet been betrayed and he didn't have the capability to refuse Zach.

I was actually going to make a similar post. I've been thinking about it more and more and you're exactly right. Cas believed he was acting on God's orders and therefore I agree with you...he has nothing to apologize for. Not to mention that he righted that wrong when he risked EVERYTHING to get Dean to Sam in Ilchester, even if Dean got there too late to stop Sam.

Part of me wants Castiel to stop giving Sam a hard time, but part of me likes their interaction, because it's interesting.

I loved the lol moments. They were so good to see again.

I want a plastic Castiel! splifford October 17 2009, 16:04:15 UTC
I heart Misha so hard. He can sell a laugh one minute and then be scary as hell in the next.

I loved the little girl's reaction to the tooth fairy. No thanks! :-D

I didn't catch who wrote the ep, but they had obviously read Good Omens, because much of the Anti-Christ stuff was a little too reminiscent.

Jensen was ridiculously pretty this week, and I love when the boys get to act with kids. They always seem to bring out such great moments with each other.

Oh hey, did you get my email about New Years'? I wanna get my ticket soon. Excited!
