Dates in your life story...Part 2

Well today would be my Mother's birthday. She passed away late December 2001. She was 71... I have a pretty good memory of it because it was the first time I had flown (especially back to NY) since 9/11 at the time. Unlike my father who had passed away rather quickly after getting sick, she got sick early 1996 and slowly withered away.

Do you miss your mother? Do you think that as you got older you would have chosen to spend more time with her?

My grandpa died in '94 and I was kind of self-absorbed back then. If that had all happened now, I would have been much more present with him during his illness.

I guess it really depends? Really only with Hindsight do I realize how little time I had left to spend with her (you never realize it till it is tooo late). But now I realize how it hurt her that I didn't visit much. So what I know now I probably would have visited more between 1991 and 1996. But after she got sick she very quickly went downhill so I don't really have much regrets as there was little I could do to make things better.
