Dear America...

I've been examining for a few years the plight of American society and I've got to be honest, I can see full well how, unless we shore up the insanity, it MAY have been better had that first American Indian we bumped into had a rock in his hand in lieu of an ear of corn, proverbially speaking ( Read more... )

Now if you find any solid facts on those puppy filled balls - you best let us know.

Our freedoms are great, and even greater because when one of these wingnuts tries to impose their ideas on our freedoms - we do generally have a system that can reign them back in. Unfortunately the system doesn't always work. We still haven't really found the better way around that "majority rule" problem.

I have hope that many groups are making small changes, and small steps towards an alternative method of change. The "system" isn't the only way to slash back at someone stepping on freedoms. Another way is to slowly educate the masses. Television has been doing a very cautious, but steadily moving forward good job of introducing homosexuality to the masses. With every new show, every new kiss - we move a little bit closer to acceptance. Once the people who comprise that majority are shifted - the system will shift to their will...

All things in time...

Not to be nitpicky on this one but the gay community has of late been pepetrating some grave offenses in the realm of "me me me" politics though. Of course, that is a broad generalization but there are many of these small groups who seem to have a case of the "Veruca Salt" syndrome and care little for others outside their own interests.

That to me is deplorable and is possibly the most destructive obstacle to society at large. A lot of the smaller groups seem to forget that society provides a modicum of benefit as opposed to anarchy, and sometimes compromises must be made for the benefit of society.

Of course, I agree that education is the key but I disagree that television should be the teacher. I'm straying more and more from "intellectual" education in favor of propagating wisdom within the young.
