Music and sound

I've been playing this game F.E.A.R. for the past few days and it's been reguarly scaring the crap out of me. To the point where I literally don't even feel like playing the game and need to take a break for a few minutes. Now usually I'm not too affected by 'scary' things, this is the only game that has really caused this effect on me. I ( Read more... )

As a childe I tended to avoid watching anything scary on t.v. or movies (which was fairly simply since I didn't watch very much of either), and I have a very finely tuned ability to shut my eyes when things get scary/gross. When I was afraid of things, it would usually be the dark basement, I would make myself walk very deliberately toward the basement, and when leaving, but gave myself permission to dash up the stairs as quickly as possible! Generally speaking I'm not afraid of a great many things. However, in grade 8 I watched two horror movies, or, to put it more correctly, listened to two horror movies. You're right, it's all about the sounds, music included. I simply couldn't go to sleep in my own bed after watching those two movies (at separate times) and those are the only times that I remember going to my parents at night because I was afraid!

P.S. You need a fun picture to go with your nickname

A picture of you mooning the camera is my suggestion.
Tha'd be fun... and a little disturbing at the same time. It's the right balance.

Haha, a worthy suggestion. I'm still not sold on it though.

When the evil shredder attacks ...
Those turtle boys don't give'm no slack ...I guess the point of thinking about TMNT is that they were always in control of things, kicking bad guys' asses and so on, so I suppose that would restore a sense of being in control, then being able to fall asleep.

Personally I never did really understand the whole appeal of scaring yourself shitless. People are going to movies like "The ring" and others, openly admitting that they screamed like little girls, and would go back and do it again. I don't get it.

Yeah, I don't know where the TMNT thing came from. It was like my talisman against evil or something. Seemed to work too :).

I really don't understand the appeal either. I'm amazed when I keep doing it to myself. I guess it's this sense of stepping outside my safe bubble life for a few minutes.

Well, hello mr. suited aces :) I need to start playing some poker again, but I suck and I'd have to lose money to get good again.

Now, if you deal me some suited aces, we are in business!
