I have an interview at the Washington Post on Thursday. Don't get too excited - it's for a copy aide.... which really means "gopher." But even still, the prospect of some sort of a job in journalism is exciting

a teacher of mine (and a 20 year photojournalim veteran/pulitzer prize winner) told me that everything i did in college was great, spectacular, and over the top, but that everyone else that i would be competing with would have done all those same things. real life is hard!
this is very true, real life is hard....it's very hard to find something related to your field, just keep trying. Also be open to taking something that is related but not exactly what you want to be doing. That's what I did when I applied and got a job as a presenter at the carnegie science center. It was part time, menial labor type stuff, but once in I was able to get promoted and I am now in a position to also volunteer at the Museum of natural history, and make super contacts. Plus I am finding out I love museum education. Good luck, you don't suck, it's just a tough field
You are wonderful and I know you will get there. I think that this is the plight of all graduating seniors no matter what the field. Just know that I am write there with you and if I were to ever be in a position to hire you, I would in a heart beat. (I know that doesn't mean much since I will probably never been in such a position, but it's the thought that counts, right?) Anyway, don't let them make you feel offended. I say keep trying till they see just how perfect for the position you are. It's their loss if they don't see it.
