I just completed an online survey that asked how many books, ebooks, and audiobooks I read/listened to completely in the last 6 months ( Read more... )

Definitely depressing! Well, I have no idea what the numbers would be for me - high, certainly. Though all physical books for me, unless you want to count fanfic novels as ebooks, at which point I would completely give up the idea of trying to keep count!

I have no idea how I'd track that. I mean, the best I could do would be to look at new additions to my shelves, and maybe, maybe see if the local library keeps a record of what you've had out in the past, and that still wouldn't account for books lent to me by friends.

I eye people who make that New Years' resolution to give at least a paragraph review of every book they read or listen to with a strange sort of awe.

I can do it! 30 books so far in 2011. But uh. That's only because I keep a reading log and review them on LibraryThing. Kind of obsessively.

Heh. But if you read both ebooks and print books, could you identify which were which? Or which you paid money for and which you got free? Or how much money you spent on the money ones? Or how many books you bought/received free in that time period and haven't read yet?

There were SO MANY QUESTIONS. And my answers to all of them were, "Um, lots?"

Well, I could, but again only because I keep an obsessive reading log with tags and reviews.

Also I do not buy books. I get them for free!

Although I don't know my reading numbers, I do know how much money I've spent on books this year unless you count the money I have spent on library fines -- being unemployed has really forced me to keep track of my small splurges better when they happen.

I got a Literati for christmas (an off-brand sort of kindle only backlit with a color LCD screen which makes it perfect for jewelry stuff). I do nothing BUT read. Though I thiiiiii~nk it keeps track of some of my reading history.

Do you suppose trying to plow through Anna Karenina counts as like ten books because this shit is crazy.
