So, one of the weirdest things about this job is the speed at which things happen.

I'm leaving for the UK tomorrow at 7:40. I get back Friday evening.

I found out at 2:30 this afternoon.

On the plus side, a trip to the UK! Well, maybe I'm biased.... Where will you be going?

Can't say I'd like to do it on such short notice though. How do your travel expenses work? Do you stand to make money on the trip by eating cheaply?

I haven't looked at a map. ;) I'm doing training in a place called Elstree, in Hertfordshire, which I've been told is an hour's trip from London by train.

That's close-ish to where I used to live. As in, I've heard of it, but have never been to the area and can offer no useful information. ;) Hope you enjoy it anyway!

Business travel isn't as much fun as it sounds, trust me. I'm trying to figure out whether I'll be able to maneuver 3-4 hours in London tomorrow, but I don't know how likely it is: our hotel is an hour or so away by train, and I'm only getting in there at 9:45 or so. Other than that, it's just a grueling pair of flights and a lot of talking to people in a conference room.

It's a little better when you get weekends to play tourist, but unfortunately, my experience has mostly involved working over weekends when I travel.

Wow! All the way to England on such short notice! I would be furious. XD

I hope you got to see a bit of London, at least!
