Stayed at my parents' house last night. They have no power, but do have a generator, which lets them run 2 space heaters, or 1 space heater and some lights and appliances (they can run their fridge a few hours a day

I so, so feel your pain. We were out three days each for Hurricanes Francis and Jeanne and then seven days the following year for Wilma. It was hot instead of cold, but I still remember just dyyying to take a shower. To this day, I still sorta feel happy turning on a switch and having a light come on.
