Depending on the shelter, there might be overcrowding, and so they want to get the cats placed as quickly as possible. It didn't take long at all for me to get my application approved. For me, it was finding the time to go during their open hours to pick up the furbabies.

Talbot County, MD has about 200 cats vs 30 dogs waiting adoption - and they're at the point now that there is no adoption fee for the kitties so they can get them placed. Thankfully, they're also a no kill shelter. I'm very happy with the girls I got from them.

I'm glad you found a furbaby that you like as well.

I'm actually adopting from a rescue operation that doesn't have a physical shelter at all. They foster the cats to volunteers until they're socialized enough to move to the PetSmart they partner with, and then the cats are adoptable from there. So they only actually have a handful or two of adoptable cats at any given time. I suspect the fact that it's so small sped things up somewhat.
