It appears the Dennis Hastert's seat in the House of Representatives was filled after a special election won by Dr. Bill Foster, a physicist who previously worked at Fermilab.  I've been wondering about the interaction between science and politics for a while and am interested to follow this career.

The more I learn about physics and physics education, the more I appreciate my undergraduate education.  I'm looking back over my physics 200 notes for qual prep and am amazed at how good David Griffith's lectures were, if only from my notes.  He deserves to retire, but it will be a tragic day for physics and doubly so for Reed.

One of our faculty presented today on climate change.  He's a no bullshit kind of guy, and gave a line of facts presentation that can be summarized as follows:
