See if you're going to do that, you need to do it like Glendale. If the Coyotes break their lease ownership needs to cough up $400 million. More than twice the value of the franchise. Oh snap they ain't goin nowhere. :)
and seriously... The stupid NLL team is a freaking anchor. 20% of losses coming from a Lacrosse team? Uh yeah bye bye.
Actually, I hate basketball. I'm coming at this more as a sports fan in general. I recognize that no franchise is safe and I think it is a down right sin that those that support the team for so long are stabbed in the back. That, and I realize that my beloved Mariners, in the midst of a 5 year suck streak, are equally fair game to jump ship on us if they were sold in similar manner.
As a child, our Seahawks came 24 hours from leaving and our mariners almost became the tampa bay devil rays. Our seattle pilots became the milwaukee brewers back in the late 60's.
Why are we expected to give our complete support to a team when they don't guarantee a return commitment to you?
40 years of commitment down the drain. Worst part is they are taking the only championship trophy seattle has ever won with them to oklahoma. But don't fret they say, they'll make a duplicate for us. :P
