CS Lewis wrote a letter insiting that Narnia should never be adapted with live actors, calling it "blasphemy" and saying that he'd consider a cartoon (but not from Disney), but never allow human actors to portray his Narniacs. Now, from the letter he's talking about human actors in animal costumes, but it's clear he's also skeptical about the whole ( Read more... )

Well, I think that it says pretty plainly that he's only talking about the animals - "Anthropomorphic animals, when taken out of narrative into actual visibility, always turn into buffoonery or nightmare." - and I have NO idea where they inferred this - "but it's clear he's also skeptical about the whole live action thing in general." I mean, it's kind of just bitching for the sake of it.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say he'd be against the coming move neccisarily (after all, CG has advanced a wee bit from when this letter was wrtten in 1959). But maybe he would be. I just thought it was an interesting tidbit, something to think about.
That and I find his hatred of Disney amusing.
