Family was a tricky thing to be honest. I mean they are supposed to be there for you no matter what choices in life you make even if they think you’re doing something utterly ridiculous and stupid. They are supposed to support you no matter what. Oh sure they aren’t blood family but still they are the only family I’ve ever known and to have them behave the way they are; it is a blow to my senses.
It really shouldn’t have been that much of a shock when I announced my engagement to Draco. After all I had been living with him since we graduated and our own relationship had commenced while still in Hogwarts. I don’t know what they were thinking. Maybe they always expected us to break up and that I’d settle down with some girl, Ginny more than likely.
But no, I’ve been with Draco for well over 5 years and still my engagement to him brought about a litany of reasons why I shouldn’t marry him. Did they really hate him that much despite the years that had passed and the times shared? They are my family and maybe they really are only looking out for my well being, but Draco, he’s been my family too since we started living together and well our engagement and subsequent wedding is just our way of announcing it further to the rest of the wizarding world.
Well I guess it makes sense that my family is torn in two after all aren’t most normal families so divided? Wow, I, Harry James Potter, have a family and yet, still I’m an orphan kind of fucked up when you think about it, but still I wouldn’t change them for the world and they will just have to deal with it because they can’t leave me.
Draco however is not only family he is my world and in the end I only really need him as family.
