I am actually going to update some thoughts/theories I have with LOST. I was right many times before (such as the Jughead causing another shift in time), but only my mom can vouch for it. I actually started this “small essay” the night of the season premier, just never posted it as I wanted to add a lot more and never was able to. This time, I will post what I have as I go (regardless if it is everything I have at the time or not) and just add to it later.
I have started on my theory on the island being under water, but I need to fix that before I post. I figured I would get this up before tonight's episode.
There is some debate that Charles Widmore and Eloise Hawking were killed with the detention of the hydrogen bomb. Eloise stated she was pregnant in 1977, which was the same year the bomb was detonated. There is a chance that she was already off of the island before that point, making it a current mystery if Daniel Faraday is alive or not.
A plausible reason why Claire may be "disheveled" as she appeared in the last episode could come from writing her in as a replacement for Rousseau. Danielle was never intended to be killed off, but Mira Furlan did not want to be tied down and stay in Hawaii any longer. However at the time of her leave, she did mention the possibility of making an appearance or two later in the show if the writers wanted. Suddenly bringing her back after being absent for over a season would not quite fit, and having her appear in the same manner as before (with the traps and "wild" in nature) would be cliche. Since Claire mysteriously disappeared and was similar to Rousseau due to the fact that she arrived on the island pregnant and was later separated from her child, the slight parallel between the two can be used.
Speaking of people being written off the show... Is anyone else peeved that Maggie Grace (Shannon) would not make a short appearance for the season premiere, causing the writers to re-write the script in order to explain her absence, which does not entirely fit with the story. Shanon would have been on the plane anyways; the difference comes from it not crashing, causing a difference in events. If Maggie Grace made a 5 minute appearance during the episode, she could have been shown on the plane, getting in a fight with Boone at the airport, hailing a cab and running off, and then never see her again, only finding out tidbits of information through word of mouth via Boone. It's funny how she's too big for her britches to abandon LOST to "further" her "career" in other ways. It was LOST that gave her a name and is also the current #1 show on television (which is high on the list of all-time series). How better to further your acting career than working yourself back into it when needed?
Sorry for the small rant at the end. I just have a distaste for the actress for being such a prima donna.
I do not believe there are multiple "smoke monsters" on the island. To me, that just sounds silly. There is also debate if FLocke is the smoke monster or not. If this was not the last season, I would say there was another explanation, but this is the time that answers will be written in. The producers stated that questions will be addressed, but a couple of new twists (such as the Flash-Sideways) would be thrown in to keep up with the mystery of the show.
Jacob inhabiting Sayid seems to be too obvious. The explanation will be an unexpected twist to the storyline.
If the "LOST Supper" promo picture has any significance to the final season:
*Sayid would have some influence from the apostle Peter. Peter was Jesus’s closest and most trusted disciple, often being credited as organizing and heading the initial spread of Christianity.
*Locke’s placement as the center figure (“Jesus”) could represent a handful of things. First, it could mean that the literal Locke could be the “savior” of the island. It could also mean that FLocke is going to be the hero instead. This entails that Locke’s placement is not actually the man that crashed on the island, but the image of him that was taken by FLocke. If this is the case, Sayid could be the one who will work on FLocke’s behalf. A few times in the past, Sayid denied Locke as having importance or even knowing the island/having a connection to it, resembling Peter denial of knowing Jesus and who he was in the courtyard of the high priest three times before the rooster crowed. Though, tf a bird of some sort caws, chirps, crows, etc. in an episode containing both Sayid and FLocke, I will have to laugh.
*Kate sits in Judas’s seat, who was the apostle that betrayed Jesus. Does this mean she will somehow screw up FLocke’s actions?
* One thing does not fit in, though with the parallels to the painting: Frank Lapidus creates a 14th character not depicted originally. However, this could show that he will replace Kate after her death as Matthias did with Judas.
This is all a far reach, but I am basing this theory on the assumption that the promotional picture will tie in to the story somehow. I do not necessarily believe it does have significance, and this is all cliche, but it is fun to try and make connections between the picture and the painting. I could go on about attempts to decipher the “LOST Supper” if so desired, but I am sure not many would care. I may do it later on anywho.
