I liked the booker winner, wolf hall, which is also nice and fat, but it depends how much you like tudor history... the childrens book by AS byatt is also fat and good. I have both if you fancy, look them up on amazon and see if you like. If you're into Cairo I have the fist book of the Cairo trilogy which is fat but a bit boring, or maps for lost lovers which is quite good.. Or just come round at the weekend and look at my bookshelves, I have plenty of borrowables. And I also have your plastic box.

I have Wolf Hall to read and I think I've read the first one of the Cairo trilogy (I think this Cairo fixation is because I want to go due to family connections!)
I will look at your other recommendations soon but Amazon is broked meh! :(

i recommend:
peyton place by grace metalious
playing with the grown-ups by sophie dahl
our spoons came from woolworths by barbara comyns
none of them are set in cairo but they're all quite good [sort of, in a slightly trashy, fun way] and peyton place is nice and thick. i read them all recently and want to read them again instead of the book i'm currently trying to wade through, argh.

that looks really good, another one on my list!

I have a feeling I'm gonna have finished Notes of a Scandal by the end of the weekend. Already done 60 pages and I started it this morning. Damn work getting in the way of reading!
