I'm graduating college. I had my last class of my college career this evening. Most normal people would be out rejoicing in the streets. They'd probably be wasted while doing so

i had the same feeling the evening of my last class. i think i might have cried, actually, but it was mostly an anxious panic. i'm very familiar with the idea of english lit being a useless major, but i HIGHLY recommend you read the book "you majored in WHAT?" it basically emphasizes the point that your college major can be applied to a lot of jobs outside the field and you don't have to go on a linear path, meaning english degree = teaching or publishing. most people don't end up going that narrow of a path. the book has exercises and stuff that help you figure out all your other interests and what job might really suit you. it's made me feel a lot better after being out in the job market for almost six months with nothing more than a couple of crappy part time gigs. i've been limiting myself a lot.

sorry, i know we just became lj friends and already i'm giving you advice. i've been applying to all the same high-school level jobs (and i can't even get those) but that's normal for any major. it will come in handy someday!

Ahh, I know what you feel. I'll be graduating this summer with a fairly useless degree and I feel the same sense of 'now what?' and not really being happy and excited for the future. I think things will turn out alright for us though :) I hope :)

I feel u. I may not be in college yet, but I'm going to graduating high school next year and I don't want to be anxious but I am. Congrats, though. I know you'll make it.

I kind of know the feeling because I felt the same way when I graduated Highschool, only in my case, it hit me hard a few days afterwards. That probably compares nothing to graduating college though.
I think time will help with this though, it always does with me~
