Vacation blog 2: fun times!

Aug 08, 2007 18:35

Here's the second installment of my little vacation acventure. Compiled for your enjoyment are pictures of various activities we engaged in while "up north". (When you are a Minnesotan, "up north" means something special)

Our first morning there we got up really early (to beat the heat) and took a walk around Miner's Lake (see vacay blog 1). A 4 mile walk.

The rest of that day was too hot to really do much so we ended up going to the (air-conditioned) International Wolf Center, and the Bear Center. The first I didnt take any pictures at but the bear center was fun:

That's Honey

That's Teddy

That's Erik watching the bears.

Ely was having their Blueberry Festival and in the park they had a ton of little tents set up with people selling stuff they had made. There was some actually really cool stuff there, i should have gotten more pics, but the cool stuff was spendy.

One souvenier that didnt cost too much at the Blueberry Festival was a wax hand. Erik was very excited to get one.

And one day we went out fishing all day. It was a lot of fun. I caught 5 fish, but only one keeper. After fishing for several hours we went to shore to a campsite that was there and the guide fried up our fish and made some rice on a little camp stove thing and we ate fresh walleye. It was so tasty. I expected to get bored with the fishing after 2-4 hours but i had a great time.

Shush, they are proper fishing clothes. Almost all of us had matching shirts. Those shirts are sun-resistant. SPF 30.

he's so tall, dark, and handsome. *gush*

The day after the big fishing expedition, we tooled around in some kayaks for a little bit. Much easier to paddle than a canoe.

That's me under all that!

Erik advising me in the proper technique

"This is what i think of your advice!"
j/k... anyone else reminded of American Gladiators?

There were other activites that didnt get documented cuz digital cameras dont like to be around water. a fuller synopsis will come when I get these stupid pictures up and finished with. So many.

After the trip, we came home. Obviously.
