Besides, it's your story! So you can move the thing as far into the future as you like, and decide that Oliver has worked out his issues in whatever way you prefer.

Yeah, I'm sure he will come around. He's Oliver Fish, and everything he's doing is in character for him (which I blame on his dumbass parents, but that's a whole other ball of wax. His parents make me so so so glad that when I came out to my dad as bi, he just blinked and asked what I was going to order for dinner.). Even what Oliver's gearing up to do is in character for him, as much as I hate it. But god, he's just breaking my heart! And Kyle's too, a little bit, I think, but they've been through worse than this. And you know, in the grand scheme of things, they're characters on a soap opera...

Maybe I'll start the story like this:

Oliver used to be stupid, but then he wasn't, and now he and Kyle have the baby. Yay.

Poetic, no? ;)
