I think I may have just experienced the best day of my life.
Okay so first things first I woke at at 8.45AM this morning (it's during my half term so don't think I'm lazy!) to buy Lady Gaga tickets. You see I heard some where that she is going to play for one night at the O2 Arena in London so obviously I was piss-my-pants excited. My mum and dad said they'd pay however much for my Christmas present. Sooo I logged on at quarter to nine, kept refreshing my page until they became available. Only O2 are stupid bastards who release tickets to O2 customers about 48 hours before general release. They also released these very Lady Gaga tickets to American Express users on Monday! So of course there were no tickets left for me! :( At the liberty of sounding like a spoilt brat, I cried a little bit I was so upset.
Then a miracle happened. About an hour or two after this, and after a spoilt daughter-y phonecall to my dad, I refreshed the page to find she'd added a new date and lo and behold, I now have two tickets to see her next year.
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP.
Secondly I haven't told anybody this for fear of jinxing it but a little while ago I applied for some free tickets to go to the recording of Live at the Apollo, which, as a die-hard stand-up fan is like the Vatican of all things funny. TBH I can't even remember booking them, but a few weeks ago they sent me an e-ticket saying to join them. OHMIGOD. They over-issue tickets to compensate for no-shows so I was scared we wouldn't get in. But we got there early, go our tickets and went for a drink in Starbucks before we went back to the Apollo to watch it.
Did I mention this was all free?
So, we get ou seats (right at the front of the upper circle. Amazing view and jizz-worthy build-up). And the announcer comes on and says these magic words.
"Ladies and Gentleman, we have a special treat for you. Tonight we are recording two shows of Live at the Apollo so you have double the entertainment. Please, if you find something funny, laugh out loud."
Here was the line up (I'll spare you all the details of their routines because it's a bit shit in written word)
- Ed Byrne: he was the host of the first show.
- Adam Hills: okay if you read my post a little while ago when I told you my top 10 sexiest comedians, this man came like first or second so I was overly-happy when he came onstage! I was looking for gigs with him a littlewhile ago and he wasn't doing any and tonight I saw one of his best stand-up routines for free! Amazing!
- Gina Yashere: the Mock the Week star was just hilarious tonight. She made my life complete with her Nigerian accent :)
- Rhod Gilbert: hosted the second show and I believe he came somewhere on my sexy comedian list. Yum! And he even admitted his last spell at the Apollo was a bit shit but this one was like AMAZING. Actually loled.
John Bishop: never heard of him before and it's a shame because he was hilarious! Shall definately be researching more of him!
So yes a productive and fruitful evening :) AND here comes and amazing bit, I knew they had celebrities in the audience but when Rhod Gilbert said, "we have none other than Keeley Hawes in the audience" I just died with happiness! She was obviously in the stalls but sort of directly in front of me! He made a comment about to A2A which I fangirly-squeed at but never the less I was just ecstatic! The whole day has been amazing :)
And tomorrow is Halloween! What joy shall that bring?
