I'm so glad you posted about this, Lacey. It makes me frustrated that the Women's Studies class I took at Dickinson was taught by such an awful professor because I think that, for the most part, these are issues that easliy get anyone, male or female, upset and we should be able to do something about it. But women who are "strong" tend to be viewed as manly (and therefore undesirable) and this seems to be translated as a whole to most of women's issues. Also, I think that the public definition of feminism is so skewed and narrow-minded that most people don't realize that they actually are feminists themselves ( ... )

I suppose I could be accused of apathy in this topic. But I want to make a point about that. I do not believe apathy is a very big problem in our generation. In fact, there are too many things for any person to be passionate about. And that is the problem. A person is told to be passionate about something, but once they find that, they ignore everything else. Take the sierra club, or animal rights activists, or myself and environmental issues. I work very hard to educate myself on many topics. I can tell you about alternative energy, or invasive plants, or poverty, or farm subsidies, or animal shelter issues. But the one event I do a year to raise money for cancer is a far cry from knowing about that issue ( ... )
