Sul da Bahia Washington DC Batizado and a question

Oct 12, 2008 00:31

Capoeira Sul da Bahia in Washington DC (Monitor Bucho; rodamovements.com or capoeirawashingtondc.com) is having its annual Batizado next Saturday, where a majority of the students (including myself) will be receiving their first cords. The event will start with a maculele demonstration, followed by a Samba demonstration and workshop, and a roda.

Sul da Bahia founder Mestre Railson will officiate. Professor Chin from SDB Santa Barbara and Professor Sale from SDB San Fransisco will also be attending.

Please join us!

Date and Time: Sat Oct 18th/ 6:00-10:00 pm
Location: "Dance Exchange" 7117 Maple Ave, Takoma Park, MD
Cost: Public $5 / Participate (w/ T-shirt) $30

Now for the question. The date of our actual cord test will also be Mestre Railson's birthday. What is the appropriate sort of celebration for the occasion? Several of us like to bake, is it appropriate to bring cupcakes or something to honor the Mestre's birthday? I don't know how they celebrate birthdays in Brazil.
