I received a Starbucks card from my bank, because they have this program called "Bank Rewards" and they immediately give you enough points for a $25 gift card. I chose Starbucks and the card came in the mail soon thereafter.
I heard that it's good if you register your card at the Starbucks site, so I did. Very nice arrangement, since it means you get free refills on regular coffee, iced coffee (squee!) and iced tea (which I love). I used my card very frugally, got the free refill when I used it...until one day when the free refill thing didn't work
The baristas, who know me just because we work next door to each other, urged me to call the 800-line and find out why my refill wasn't free all of a sudden. I called this morning, since I had some extra time, and the truly nice guy on the 800-line explained to me that my card was *not* registered after all. Now, we both agreed it was strange, since it had been entitling me to free refills when scanned through the registers.
Cool dude that he is, he took care of registering my card for me, then said he was putting a couple of drink coupons in the mail to me as well. He didn't *have* to do that, but he wanted to. This will be awesomeness, because I only get the really fancy drinks when I've had survey receipts in the past. (Do a survey online, you get a special code to write on your receipt and it becomes a coupon for a tall drink of your choice. I took one in once and the barista upgraded me to a venti size for free. I tell you, they are *awesome* to me there!)
It's the little things that rock hardest.
