You should give Asus a chance. Their customer service is excellent. And I find that they give you a great deal for your money.

I second the 'avoid Acer'. My mother has one and started getting issues with it a couple of months after she bought it (issues which have since been resolved, but still). As far as I've heard from other computer!geek family/friends of mine, it's not among the best brands to go with. xD

As for myself, well, I have an IBM Thinkpad that's a few years old, requires a wireless card, but otherwise works fine. (It also has Windows XP, which I love. :D)

I like HP, too. Little sister #1 has one and it's always worked fairly well, even with Windows Vista (which I still don't like, but your opinions may vary).

Admittedly, I am not really familiar with Lenovo or Toshiba, but I'd say that if Toshiba has worked for you so far, that would probably work out best in terms of what you already know/are used to.

Anyway, that's just my two cents. :D

I'm almost as thoroughly in love with Winston (my new Toshiba) as I was with my old one. Not that I've had much to compare it to except my first laptop, which was my brother's old Compaq that came to retire here after he finished post-sec. Anyways. YMMV. :)
