AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER
Be Pro-Active -
I debunk common defensive/dismissing/condescending/uninformed comments about The Last Airbender movie getting an all-white cast.

You had questions, I got answers. ( How are Konietzko and DiMartino handling this? I mean, they respect Asian culture obviously )

Yeah, you know what's funny, Paramount? There are people in the West who...aren't white. So your shit still won't fly after you rape canon.

I'm still disappointed in Shyamalan. Even if contracts disallow him from walking from the project, he should be doing something. Go to the press, tell the media (and the geeks) what Paramount is doing to their canon. Tell people that the white-washing of the entire universe is an affront to you and your children. Refuse to let them see it. Call them out on hiring an Indian-American director without telling them the plan to white-wash an Asian project, if that's the case, and if you are under contract to finish the project, tell people how it compounds the matter, that Paramount is willing to lock a PoC into this project. Don't just stand around saying it's out of your hands. You're a high profile director; we're a bunch of geeks on the internet--it's not out of our hands, how is it out of yours?

I'm still upset over how unnecessary this all is. Huge groups of both children and adults ( ... )

You make a DAMN good point, bb. Does he think this will bring up his fallen!status in the film industry? By cow-towing to whatever idiotic tripe the execs spew out, he'll somehow win over movie-goers? It's truly, truly baffling and very sad.

And they love it regardless of whether they see the characters as white or Asian or a mix of the two, they can relate to the characters regardless of skin color because they're fucking people

I know, right? I mean, I wonder if such an uproar would have been had if the initial casting release was chock full of PoCs as any of Aang, Sokka, Katara and Zuko. Would people be like "ZOMG WTF WHY ARE THEY ALL COLOURED KIDS, I TOTES WON'T SEE THIS MOVIE NOW, GRRR" No, because people aren't IDIOTS. And I just wish Hollywood would bloody understand that, GYAH.

I know, right? I am STILL seeing people who are like "PROVE TO ME THAT THIS CHARACTER DOESN'T LOOK WHITE." and when people explain they're like "YOU JUST WANT ALL-ASIAN CAST AND THAT'S WROOOONGGGGG"

.....

I just. I can barely comprehend this mentality. I keep adding new and more idiotic 'arguments' to my last post because the stupid, Adora. IT NEVER STOPS. GHAD.

Ugh I can't believe they are doing that! Its the stupidest thing I've ever heard...."transplant the Avatar:TLA story/plot into Western world". Well if they want to do that why even use the avatar name? Just make a completely different movie. Stupid movie people.

It's so true!!! If they transplant, then it just becomes another case of Hollywood turning canon material into lame-ass crap. In a way, I can almost stand that more than if they choose theblatant discrimination of have all-white cast in a canon Avatar setting, LOLS.

SO SAD THAT THESE WOULD BE MY ONLY TWO CHOICES. IT JUST AIN'T RIGHT!! *clings to you*
