AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER

Wikipedia's Entry on Avatar references io9.com's report on Last Airbender white washing, which is fine by me because it provides so many links to the cause. Yay, Wiki!

Also, All Headline News and via AHN, iCelebs have made the news announcement as well. I know the report uses hot topic terms like 'racist' instead of ' ( Read more... )

"WE HAVE NOTES! HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT DAVE CHAPPELLE?!?!"

I am sending out my letters to these new addresses today, and letting them know that if they continue with this whitewashing, I'll be writing an article about it in Sequential Tart urging our readers not to see the film. Whoo-hoo!

Oh those f**ckers! WTF? Sending letters back? Geezus, but really I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I sent my letter out pretty early (I think the 12th) so I'm not sure if they would have returned it and I'm too lazy to venture out into the cold to check my mailbox. I'll let everyone know if the same thing happened to me. Personally, I don't think it matters where we send the letters, because in the end there's always the risk of them being thrown away/returned en mass. Still, the important thing is to annoy them by reminding them that we're still here and still pissed.

Also, to try and get more attention. If anything, maybe we can hurt their box office gross by inspiring enough ppl to boycott. I mean, if they want to support the franchise, they should buy the dvds/merchandise rather than spend money on a disrespectful (probably shitty) movie. And there's always the internet and good old cam-rips to those who still want to check it out but don't want to hand the suits their cash. Honestly, I've downloaded for less.

I gave my return address as my apartment in Van, so won't know if they returned it until the New Year. But you better believe that for every letter I get back (I sent two) I'll be sending out several more!

I just thought you'd be interested to know (if you don't already) that the live-action Dragonball Z film they're releasing early next year also has white actors cast as the major characters. I don't know if anyone here used to watch this cartoon when they were younger, but I did, and I noticed it's the same sort of problem you've been posting about with Avatar.
