I hope Facebook does die out in Vancouver. I had to delete mine because having everybody I knew in RL on it made me crazy. I guess I could be more selective about who I friended on it but everybody finds you, you know? Also the coolest things I've found in Van I didn't find through Facebook. Like adult punk-rock slip-n-slide. Course I didn't find out about that 'til after the fact, but nobody on my Facebook was cool enough to know about it either!

AHAHAHAH!!! There is a latent need (in many more people than I suspected...not just us geekolas any more) to be viewed and admired. So people put up bajillions of photos of themselves/places they've been, take a thousand quizzes and try to up their friends number just so others can look at their profile page and go "they're cool". Not necessarily a bad thing (since I feel LJ is somewhat voyeuristic as well) and I gotta give FB credit for one thing: IT IS NOT MYSPACE. WTH IS WITH THAT NIGHTMARE DANCING GIFS MIDI WAVS TETRA-COLOURED BACKGROUND 1997 THROWBACK.

hopefully they'll release Disney's stable of EXTREMELY TALENTED artists onto Marvel to revamp their 2D animation style

YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

And seriously, I'm not sure where people are getting the whole "Disney buying up a studio/company/etc = they get the Mouse ears makeover." Disney owns a SHIT TON of other producing studios and, as far as I can make out, all it means in terms of what the consumers can see is that those companies get the Disney money behind their advertising and.. I dunno, something, I'm just sitting back here thinking, "Oh yeah, because The Crow and Kill Bill were so kiddie friendly.."

EDIT: I must say, I'm also surprised to see that at least a couple of people at deadbrowalking are taking the Disney/Marvel partnership as indication that we'll lose the PoC/female characters that Marvel came out with. As if.. most of the animated Disney Renaissance was not rife with both. *boggles*

Marvel ain't very proactive with their PoC or female characters themselves. I dunno. Between Marvel and DC, I always felt that DC had better female characters. I think both biggie companies fail on the PoC side of things in various ways. Derrrr.

I think least Disney (when it comes to child-friendly Disney) has SOME popular franchises with PoC, like their crappy Disney children's sitcoms, Mulan, Lilo and Stitch and upcoming Princess and the Frog. Hell, I'll even throw in Aladdin and Pocahontas, despite those two being issue-tastic, at least the heroes were brown? AND THE SONGS ARE AWESOMES. XD

WTH WHY AM I DEFENDING DISNEY, LOL.

I'm allergic to (read: hatehateHATE) my cell phone so I do rely on online services to arrange hang-out times with friends. Clearly it all depends on the group of friends and how they best communicate! Other than that, I find FB a vaguely useless vehicle; but then again I have LJ to wallow in, lol. I prefer LJ's version of voyeurism much more my style. :D

THEME PARK WOULD BE AWESOMES.

You are psychic!! I'm delighted to see Twitter's downfall, personally. That place is rife with wtf.
