I do sorta remember this topic being brought up, and I'm gonna be honest that it could have been that for me personally, I was not in a good enough headspace/ready to even understand if and how it could work. That doesn't really help you, since my advice shaped your decision, but it's an ever-changing process for me, so mistakes are being constantly made by me.
I didn't come up with the Racebending Ficathon, it was conceived independently and then brought to my attention. The comm/mods that set it up are so entrenched in anti-racism activism both online and off, that I could read - from the way they answered comments and questions - that they understood the potential risks; probably even better than I can. I don't know if they were the ones who slammed your idea down a little over a year ago? But I do believe an idea can exist/be borne in fandom in multiple places, so I don't want to fault them for coming up with a similar idea that was separate from your idea, solely for the reason that we're all connected by fandom

Oh neither do I and I don't think they were involved.
I jsut... I'm seeing a lot of irresponsibility with words like fail, racists, race!fail, sexist, privilege, etc, especially in the comics fandom, and a lot of people acting like their personal opinion is a universal truth, so I think that on top of all this just has me frustrated.
Typically btw though, you are at least bastion of consistency, and usually good points. Even when I don't agree and can at lest see yu are consistent. =P

Because holy cats, this path is so not easy for me at all, given my life up until the past couple of years. Although I don't regret having this newfound responsibility to other human beings, or being held accountable for my thoughts and actions - the idea that 'I should know better' is always a comfort when I get all maudlin and miserable about fandom, heh. I sympathize with your frustration, I really do. <3
Also is this actually the thing you're doing for the Racebending ficathon? (I don't like that Revenge in there, it feels kind of tacky!) Because I would be up for reading more of these!
