And I'm posting from it right now (at home, to boot)!
What happened was that Saturday afternoon,
teeebone and his friend
rayshp were out "thrifting" (thrift shopping) when they came across a slightly old computer (keyboard, mouse, tower, and monitor) in good working condition. Would you believe
teeebone got it for $45? That's less than I paid for
my laptop that died six months ago! Not only that, but it has more juice:
AMD Athlon(tm) Processor
AT/AT Compatible
261,616 KB RAM
38.3 GB HDD
As opposed to:
128 MB RAM
3.4 GB HDD
Oh, and it originally ran Windows ME (Eek!), but
rayshp loaded Win2K Pro onto it instead.
Yesterday,
teeebone and I hit a couple of thrift stores because I needed a computer desk. How thrilling and surreal it was to score with this IKEA Krister Computer Desk (thrilling because it's compact and sturdy, and surreal because
teeebone says it's identical to one that he owns)!
Even the computer in this picture looks a lot like mine! The only differences are that my desk is set up for a right-handed person, and my keyboard is black. Oh, and the tower looks slightly different too.
Now, I can finally start catching everyone up on what's been going on with me over the last six months, the amount of time I've been without a home computer. Woo-hoo!
