I'm sorry that happened. It's so frustrating. I've been divorced for 15 years and my ex and I both worked full time but he did a lot more of the kid-related stuff. It was just a natural thing. He was better at it. I was afraid of our girls when they were babies, and he was totally comfortable with them. He used to rail about how there were no changing tables in men's restrooms.

After we were divorced, when our older daughter got to be sleepover age, it was a super rude awakening to find out some of her friends weren't allowed to spend the night on the weekends when she was at her dad's. Just because he was dad and not mom. She's 21 now, and I had assumed things had gotten better over the years. It sucks to hear they haven't.

Y'all are doing what works for you - someone else's dysfunctional marriage shouldn't have an effect on that. It's just shitty.
