some cats, like some people, are always angry... for some reason they feel like either the world owes them everything, just because they were born; and/or they don't want to have to function with civilazation and society... for those disgruntled beings that aren't capable of completely exiling themselves, like hermits, they deal with their negative outlook on life through aggressive behavior towards others....... jess, my point is that mittens loves you because you're her [wonderful♥] mother, but she lives too much in "mittensland". although she does secretly love when you hold and pet her for far too long; she doesn't want to spend her time fulfilling instinctual pleasures (like having behind her ear scratched)...

...or maybe it's because she has cat asthema(sp?)..... well, at least she's not a whiney bitch like achilles..
