Art This fic was written for the
spn-j2-bigbang but is impressively late -- relatedly, I have never worked on a fic for this long.
I was lucky enough to be chosen by the lovely
meesasometimes, who made actual
gorgeous needlepoint art! Please go shower hearts and praise upon her over at her art post!
Thanks also go to
oddishly for beta'ing, being enthusiastic when I thought all was lost, and (especially for) britpicking much of the dialogue.
A little bit of history about this fic...a couple years ago I wrote
Your face against the morning sun, a Jo/Bela fic inspired by the prompt Bela steals something from Jo. Jo goes to get it back, and it turns into an odd game of cat & mouse.. This year's big bang can be read as a prequel to that. While writing it, I completely convinced myself that Jo and Bela are super compatible, and although they don't meet in canon, Bela is roaming the US in the same season as Jo features. SO IT MAKES SENSE. I did realize after finishing that I'd screwed up the timeline, so in both of these stories the Roadhouse hasn't burned down yet. Also, in Dark Side of the Moon Ash actually does say he was a born-again Christian, his congregation's best snake handler.
