Background: here

Personality: Like any typical American teenager, Rogue has typical teenager problems - trying to pass classes, making friends, dating, etc. The usual list of suspects. Except for the part where she's a mutant, goes to a special school for gifted (read: mutant) youngsters, and has to deal with people kidnapping her for her powers or trying to destroy all the mutants in the world. When her mutant abilities first manifested, Rogue ran away from home; she was alone, scared, but able to hold her own for 8 months before meeting Wolverine and subsequently finding herself at Charles Xavier's school.

Rogue is shy when meeting new people, often unsure or anxious about how to interact with them, but her curiosity generally gets the better of her and she's quick to make friends (whether the other person wants to be friends or not, Logan). She's polite with strangers but isn't afraid to ask potentially prying questions to get information. At first glance Rogue seems soft-spoken, but she won't tolerate rudeness. If you're nice to her, though, she's extra nice back. She opens up more with her friends, less afraid and comfortable enough to banter with them and make snarky quips. She's extremely protective of her friends; even if she's scared out of her mind in a tough situation she'll make sure they're all right. No man gets left behind when Rogue's around.

Though she tries her best, she is only a kid, after all, and not one trained in combat or how to deal with dangerous situations. She's pretty easily frightened and tends to panic easily, but she pushes through that panic when she needs to, especially when someone else is in danger. Here her bravery shines through, for example when she had to pilot the X-men's jet a short distance to save the rest of the team from being stranded.

Likely because of her inability to touch anyone without harming them, Rogue is fairly touch shy, careful to make sure no one accidentally brushes against her skin. Her powers and the dangers they pose to others frighten her, and she doesn't use them unless absolutely necessary. As evidenced by her relationship with Bobby, she longs to have a normal relationship, one where she can hold hands and kiss without worrying about putting anyone into a coma. Yet she still tries to work with what she can, holding hands with her gloves on and keeping kisses short and sweet. Life these days has been a struggle between accepting herself (all of herself, powers and all) and trying to be a regular teenager, but she's glad she has the friends and teachers she's met at Xavier's school to help her through it all.

Powers, Skills, and Abilities: As a mutant, Rogue has the ability to temporarily absorb another person's powers through skin contact. How long she retains the borrowed powers depends on how long she remains in contact with the person. Along with supernatural/superhuman abilities, Rogue can also absorb parts of the person's psyche, such as aspects of their personality or emotions. Her powers come with a price, however, as the process harms the other person, essentially draining their life force, and prolonged contact can result in extreme weakness, coma, or worse on the victim's part.

First Person:
[Rogue's slightly nervous about addressing the whole city - mass texts are one thing, but mass video messages? - especially after only being in Aliunde for a few days. But she wants as many replies as possible, so she puts on a smile before hitting the video button on the communicator.]

Hello! Ah, my name's Rogue, for those of you I haven't met yet. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for getting a job around here. What kind of places are hiring, what's the best kind of work to do, that sort of thing. I don't have a lot of work experience, but I'm a fast learner and I'll certainly try my best.

I'd really appreciate the help - I'll owe ya one, yeah? Thanks so much. [Aaaand awkward fumbling as she tries to turn the phone off quickly. Well, that had gone better than expected. Maybe she could do this after all.]

Third Person:
The gloves are laid out on the dresser but she's just staring at them. They're her usual pair, gray and long, fraying a bit around the fingertips, and right now they seem like a taunt. Poor little Rogue, can't even go out with friends for a day without me, they whisper.

She hears Bobby's voice out in the hallway, calling for Rogue to hurry up or they're going to the movies without her. Rogue smiles to herself, because she knows Bobby wouldn't dare purposefully leave her behind after that fiasco last month where he and John got lost in the mall and she had to come find them before they got in trouble. They had a knack for that. Thankfully, Rogue had a knack for keeping them in line. Most of the time.

Pushing aside her earlier thoughts, Rogue slips on the gloves, making sure they fit comfortably. They do, of course. The phrase "fits like a glove" is never more accurate than with her; her gloves fit perfectly because they're basically a part of her at this point. She rubs at a small stain on her left palm, the smooth glide of fabric against fabric incredibly familiar and kind of comforting.

"Hold your horses, Bobby!" she shouts back, grabbing her purse and flicking off the light in her room before she leaves. He's standing right outside her door, and she smiles and takes his hand, letting him pull her down the hall so they can catch up with the others. It's not perfect, she reflects, glancing down at her gloved hand in his uncovered one, but it's better than nothing.
