Well that was possibly the best episode of Doctor Who yet in this "new" series. At least on a par with anything in Christopher Eccleston's time. Spoilers below the cut.
Werewolves and Ninja monks and Queen Victoria. Mix in the beginnings of Torchwood and what's not to love. The special effects are getting better as well. (Not that they were bad before) That was possibly the best realised werewolf I've seen on television.
Pauline Collins was excellent as Queen Victoria and the running gag with Rose trying to get her to say her most famous phrase* was excellent. Especially the way it was turned against them at the end. And the final twist when Torchwood was formed partly because of the Doctor was very interesting. Also what Queen Victoria said was true. The Doctor and Rose do seek out danger and treat it as if it is fun. I think that attitude is literally going to bite them later on. They are heading for a big fall I think.
Finally, what happens to Queen Victoria this episode does possibly explain a lot of things about the royal family. At the very least it's an interesting theory. *g*.
* I don't know if Queen Victoria ever did say "I'm not amused". I hope she did though. I hope its not like "Beam me up Scotty in that regard". *g*.
