Due South is an excellent show. It's about a Mountie who is forced to go Chicago to catch his fathers killer where he teams up with a cop there. Without spoiling you too much as a result of this the mountie {Corporal Benton Fraser) is forced to stay in Chicago where he forms a partnership with the cop (Ray Vecchio).
It's a weird programme. It is a drama but there is also comedy. The whole fish out of water thing and two partners who couldn't be more different but who begin to like each other. The humour can be almost like Monty Python at times as well and it can be quite strange in some other ways as well but I don't want to spoil you too much. It is available on dvd I've found out and I would recommend it. Especially the first two seasons.
I loved Quantum Leap and am always delighted to come across old episodes. Where and when is it on?
I only saw a few eps of Due South and liked it but never really got into it for some reason. I used to like Northern Exposure, too, which was around that era iirc.
They're on ITV 3 from six pm to eight pm all week. Due South did have an occasional weak episode in my view but it's worth persevering with. I never quite got into Northen Exposure. If I see it again I'll give it another try.
It's a brilliant show. I asked for (and got) the series 1 DVD for my birthday. And luckily Sky showed the mini-series again. So I'm now starting on series 2, as Sky is showing it. I missed it when Sky showed it first, since I usually get TV recommendations from the Americans on my friends list. I would recommend the region 1 DVDs, if you are interested, since they have more extras, such as commentaries.
