I highly doubt detentions are going to solve the problem. Afterall, I'd imagine you were able to clean things up. No harm done.

Of course I am fond of snakes. I am a Slytherin, afterall. But when students do something so atrocious as create a swamp that soils my favorite black cloak... Then even snakes, regal beings that they are, cannot salvage the situation! ...Detention, however, might.
