I've been studying non-stop all week with my tutors, and my head is freakin' killing me. The math stuff is the hardest, by far. All those stupid symbols. I swear, I'm actually seeing them in my dreams! But I'm going to keep at it. I'm going to study my brains out and pass this test, even if it kills me!

I mean, you'd think, in this day and age, that racism and xenophobia would have died out by now. Honestly, it was about a week after I first met Eva that I even noticed she had red eyes! I don't know what the big deal is, really.

But that's the thing! I don't see the "new humans" as being any different from "normal" humans. A few genes were tweaked to allow them to survive in low-oxygen atmospheres. It's no different from the people who live in the Andes mountains. They just simply evolved after generations of environmental adaptation. It's the same goddamned thing, why can't people see that?

Sorry, this is just a really touchy issue for me. My grandfather had close friends who were Nuhumes, and he sometimes got guff from people who thought he shouldn't associate with them. I just ... don't want Eva to be discriminated against. She's had enough suffering in her life.
