Arsing about with LJ.

I thought it was high time I made myself a couple more LJ icons. It appears as though everyone has filled up their quota except me. And, hey, maybe someone out there wants to know the face behind the wolf. ;)

Of course, everyone must have heard of the BioWare Buy-Out by now. The news is pretty exciting, in my opinion, because the company has even ( Read more... )

Hmm, another american company buying a canadian one... Hopefully they don't screw everything up. I rather like Pandemic software too.

Yeah, it's tough to say exactly what changes will happen as a result of this merger, but the other companies involved certainly do seem to have similar values to BioWare, which makes me optimistic.

Of course, I'm one of the folks who *didn't* know about the BioWare buy-out... I'm guessing, though, that this doesn't mean that your job is in jeopardy. In fact, it sounds like the changes will take some stress off of you.

Ah, to be gifted with game development skills, instead of these database and web programming skills. :P I looked at the job board, and saw nothing that I was even remotely qualified for.

Who am I kidding? I enjoy my job. :)

It'll ease stress in certain ways. Of course, larger teams mean fundamental changes to my job as a lead and manager. I prefer to think of that as the good kind of stress, though. :)

And, hey, database and web programming skills may be applicable to a tools position. You can't know unless you try. :) It's good that you enjoy your current job, though. I hear far too many stories of people who don't. Life's too short not to enjoy what you do.

Yeah, having more team members to get something completed on time, while it can present a few scheduling problems, is generally better.

And as for the tools positions they were hunting for, I didn't have any of the relevant skill sets. *sigh* Oh, well, I can dream. :) But, I'm glad I like the job I have. I know far too many people who have jobs that they utterly hate, but stick with because it pays the bills. Frankly, if I retired tomorrow, I'd still program, just for the sheer joy of it.

WOW! I really like your new LJ Icon - very cool looking. Such a handsome wuff. ^_^

Anyway, glad to hear things with your employer are going well, despite how HARD you've been working yourself as of late. *hugs*

Aww, thank-ye! gamble took it for me while we were at a restaurant in Saskatoon. I really like tight portraits, generally. They're more tense than full head shots.

[hugs] Thanks for the well-wish, too. I'll be glad when Nov 23 comes along, and I can just have a few days to putter about without serious planning. With luck, I'll be rejuvenated and a better husband when I return. :)

I hope that things work out with BioWare. I know that I was nervous when I first heard about the acquisition, but everything happens for a reason and obviously I cannot change something like this, so it is easier to just acknowledge it.

I like your new LiveJournal icon. Lizz says mine looks like I am trying to sell someone a pizza in a TV commercial.
