I've been thinking over the last while about what I can do for a living. I've lost all self confidence in the job that I was doing, and really feel that I should just back away from the financial side of things. So.... I've applied for a few jobs at Uvic as secretary/clerks, but if they don't pan out, I think I'm going to look at fostering. I ( Read more... )

You know, you'd be a fantastic postpartum doula. You'd get to work with new mothers & babies, set your own hours and work when you want to. The challenging part of this work is finding the clients, so you'd need to put some money and effort into making good connections and possibly advertising. Anyhow, just a suggestion. Kids are a harder form of work than just about anything else, so maybe give some thought to other things?

I was journal surfing - I have a great deal of admiration for foster parents. I have a few kids in my class who are in foster-care of some sort.

It's a tough job, but it needs to be done, and I am happy that there are people willing to do it.
